Pentecost: The Outpouring of the Holy Spirit

Pentecost, a pivotal event in Christian tradition, commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon Jesus' disciples, as recorded in the New Testament book of Acts.

The Biblical Account

The story of Pentecost is found in Acts 2:1-47. After Jesus' ascension, the disciples gathered in Jerusalem, awaiting the Holy Spirit's arrival, as Jesus had promised:

"But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth." (Acts 1:8)
