> “I will give you the treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that you may know that I, the Lord, who call you by your name, am the God of Israel.”— Isaiah 45:3
In a world driven by materialism and status, many are misled about the purpose of wealth, especially believers. Does God want you to be rich? Is money evil? Should Christians expect financial blessings just for attending church? This article takes you deep into the spiritual truth about wealth, using both practical wisdom and biblical revelation to guide your thinking.

Wealth from the secret place
💡 What Is Wealth From the Secret Place?
"Secret place" wealth is not just what your hard work earns, but what God reveals and provides supernaturally — wealth accessed through prayer, purpose, divine alignment, and faith. It’s Kingdom wealth, and it is different from the world’s riches.

❌ Common Misconceptions Christians Have About Money
1. “Money is Evil”
Many quote 1 Timothy 6:10: “The love of money is the root of all evil,” but misinterpret it. Money itself is not the problem—the love of it is.Ask yourself:
* How do I earn my money?
* Does my money control my self-worth?
* What do I use it for—only myself?
2. “God Doesn’t Want Believers to Be Wealthy”
This belief ignores 3 John 1:2: “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.”
Wealth, when it doesn't become an idol, is a tool to support ministry, help the poor, and glorify God.
3. “Being a Christian Will Automatically Make You Rich”
John 3:16 shows that salvation, not riches, is the goal. 1 Timothy 6:5-9 warns that those who chase riches fall into harmful traps
4. “Donating in Church Will Make You Rich”
Giving is biblical, but it’s not a **transaction**—it’s an act of worship. As Luke 6:38 teaches, your reward might not be financial, but it is real.
Proverbs 30:8-9 shows us the balance: not too poor to sin, not too rich to forget God.
Proverbs 22:7 says, “The borrower is servant to the lender.” Financial freedom enables service to God without anxiety.
Money in the hands of the righteous becomes a weapon against injustice and a blessing to others.
Proverbs 22:29 – “Do you see a man diligent in his work? He will stand before kings.”
Proverbs 10:4 – “Lazy hands make for poverty, but diligent hands bring wealth.”

✝️ Take-Home Catechesis
The priest kisses the altar at Mass as an act of love for Christ and His Church—symbolizing spiritual sacrifice. Likewise, we must lay our financial lives on God’s altar, honoring Him with our substance.

🌟 Hoarding Treasure for Yourself Is Madness: A Wake-Up Call from God
> “But God said to him, ‘You fool! This very night your life will be demanded from you. Then who will get what you have prepared for yourself?’”— Luke 12:20 (NIV)
💡 What Does It Mean to Be Truly Rich?
When we think of the word “rich,” we imagine luxurious homes, new cars, travel, and the freedom to buy anything at any time. The world tells us, “What’s better than money? More money!” But Jesus flips that idea on its head.In Luke 12:13–21, Jesus tells the parable of a rich man who hoarded wealth and built bigger barns to store his grain, thinking he could finally relax. But God calls him a fool — not because he had wealth, but because he hoarded it and failed to recognize it all came from God.
📜 The Vanity of Earthly Possessions
> “Vanity of vanities, says the Preacher, vanity of vanities! All is vanity.”—Ecclesiastes 1:2 (ESV)
The first reading reminds us that life without God is meaningless. Wealth, fame, and possessions eventually pass away. When we die, nothing we have will go with us. Others will inherit what we hoard. The only treasure that truly lasts is that which is stored in heaven.
👕 The New Clothes of a Christian
> “Clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
—Colossians 3:12 (NIV)
In the second reading, the Bible speaks of the “new clothes” we must wear as Christians. These are not designer labels or expensive garments — they are spiritual qualities like love, humility, and forgiveness. The true riches of a disciple of Christ are righteousness, generosity, and contentment.
Jesus doesn’t condemn wealth itself — but He strongly warns against using it selfishly.
> “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?” — 1 John 3:17 (NIV)

🚫 The Sin of Hoarding
Jesus doesn’t condemn wealth itself — but He strongly warns against using it selfishly.> “If anyone has material possessions and sees a brother or sister in need but has no pity on them, how can the love of God be in that person?” — 1 John 3:17 (NIV)
The sin of the rich farmer wasn’t being successful — it was that he planned to keep everything for himself, never sharing or acknowledging God’s role in his blessing.
📖 Personal Devotional
"Lord, remove any spirit of greed or fear in me. Help me trust You as my source, not just my resource. May I use my wealth to serve, not to boast. In Jesus’ name, Amen."
> “My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”— Job 42:5–6 (NIV).
> “My ears had heard of you, but now my eyes have seen you. Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”— Job 42:5–6 (NIV).
Many of us have grown up with second-hand knowledge of God. But like Job, when we encounter God personally — through prayer, trials, or reflection — our hearts change. We realize how much we’ve put our trust in things rather than in God.
