1st: The Prophecy of Simeon

Scripture: “And Simeon blessed them and said to Mary his mother: ‘Behold, this child is destined for the fall and rise of many in Israel, and to be a sign that will be contradicted—and you yourself a sword will pierce—so that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.’” (Luke 2:34–35)

Lesson: Life with Christ is filled with both joy and suffering. Mary accepted Simeon’s prophecy with faith, reminding us to embrace God’s plan even when it is painful.

2nd: The Flight into Egypt

Scripture: “Joseph rose and took the child and his mother by night and departed for Egypt. He stayed there until the death of Herod, that what the Lord had said through the prophet might be fulfilled, ‘Out of Egypt I called my son.’” (Matthew 2:13–15)

Lesson: Trusting God in times of uncertainty is essential. Mary and Joseph left everything behind to protect Jesus, teaching us to rely on God’s guidance in times of danger, fear, or change.

3rd: The Loss of the Child Jesus in the Temple

Scripture: “When his parents saw him, they were astonished, and his mother said to him, ‘Son, why have you done this to us? Your father and I have been looking for you with great anxiety.’” (Luke 2:48)

Lesson: Losing sight of Jesus can bring distress to our lives, but like Mary and Joseph, we are called to seek Him earnestly. When we feel distant from God, prayer and faith lead us back to Him.

4th: Mary Meets Jesus on the Way to Calvary

Scripture: “A large crowd of people followed Jesus, including many women who mourned and lamented him.” (Luke 23:27)

Lesson: Mary’s silent presence on the way to Calvary shows the strength of compassion. Sometimes the greatest gift we can give others in suffering is to simply walk with them and share their pain.

5th: The Crucifixion of Jesus

Scripture: “Standing by the cross of Jesus were his mother and his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary of Magdala.” (John 19:25)

Lesson: Mary’s faith never wavered, even as she watched her Son die. She teaches us perseverance in faith during life’s greatest trials, trusting that God’s will brings redemption.

6th: The Body of Jesus is Placed in Mary’s Arms

Scripture: “After this, Joseph of Arimathea… asked Pilate if he could remove the body of Jesus. And Pilate permitted it. So he came and took his body.” (John 19:38)

Lesson: In this sorrow, Mary holds the lifeless body of her Son. She shows us that even in the face of devastating loss, we can embrace God with love and surrender.

7th: The Burial of Jesus

Scripture: “Taking the body of Jesus, Joseph wrapped it in clean linen and laid it in his new tomb, which he had hewn in the rock.” (Matthew 27:59–60)

Lesson: Mary watched her Son laid in the tomb, an act of complete surrender to God’s plan. She teaches us hope beyond despair, trusting that even in darkness, resurrection is coming.
